Enhance your adventure with Argo
Game systems
RPG systems like Forbidden Lands, Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS, SWADE, and Pathfinder all share the core elements of storytelling, character development, and tactical decision-making. What makes each system unique is the set of rules that govern how these elements unfold. Argo’s Virtual Tabletop (VTT) is designed to deeply integrate with each RPG system, ensuring that the mechanics—whether it’s combat, skill checks, or exploration—are seamlessly supported. By automating complex rules, managing resources, and providing intuitive interfaces, Argo enhances the flow of gameplay, allowing both Game Masters and players to focus on the narrative and immerse themselves fully in the adventure.
Forbidden Lands
Forbidden Lands was chosen as Argo’s showcase RPG system due to its unique focus on exploration, survival, and the freedom it offers players to shape their own narrative. Its simple yet rich mechanics make it an ideal candidate for the integration of a Virtual Tabletop (VTT) that can bring the game to life in new and exciting ways.
Mechanics Implementation and Argo’s Enhancements
Argo will fully implement core mechanics from Forbidden Lands, including combat, resource management, and character progression, all designed to streamline gameplay. One of the most significant enhancements is on exploration, where Argo will help with travel distances, quarter-day time progression, and the impact of weather. Resource management is also simplified, with the VTT automatically tracking food, water, and gear wear, ensuring players focus on survival strategy rather than tedious bookkeeping. By automating these systems, Argo allows players and Game Masters to focus more on the unfolding narrative and tactical decisions.
Procedural Generation and Dynamic Maps
Argo introduces procedural generation for dynamic encounters based on the tables described in the GameMaster’s book. As players explore the wilderness, Argo will dynamically generate encounters such as dangerous weather conditions or surprise enemy confrontations. The platform also enables dynamic map generation, creating unpredictable landscapes filled with encounters, points of interest, and challenges. This keeps exploration fresh and spontaneous, ensuring that no two journeys are ever the same.
Fog of War and Exploration
Argo’s Fog of War technology brings an extra layer of mystery and immersion to the exploration process. Players will only see regions they’ve uncovered, with undiscovered territories shrouded in darkness until they’re explored. This mechanic heightens the suspense of venturing into the unknown, making exploration a thrilling part of the game as players reveal new locations, encounter threats, and uncover hidden opportunities.
With Argo’s deep integration, Forbidden Lands will provide a more fluid, dynamic, and immersive experience, significantly improving the flow of gameplay while preserving the core essence of the game.
